AIPAM was founded to create an association of naval architects/marine engineers/industrial engineers practising the profession, be it individually or in association, experts in various fields of maritime industry and particularly involved in maritime casualties.

Since then, the aims were:

  1. To take all actions and initiatives necessary to promote and guarantee the highest level of professionality of its Members and the safeguard of the professional image of the maritime surveyor/consultant.
  2. To promote the investigation of the circumstances and causes of maritime casualties, to suggest the adoption of suitable preventive precautions./p>
  3. To promote and develop in the maritime industry and with the Authorities the awareness of the importance of the maritime surveyor in casualties.
  4. To promote and to safeguard at all times of the mutual interests of its Members.
